Student Government to Create Stronger Consistency Through Events Committee

01/28/2017  One of the tenure goals of Student Government Association (SGA) President Hamze “Leo” Sukkar was the creation of a new Events Committee tasked with planning, organizing, and advertising regular events branded as SGA programs. A seemingly universal agreement among SGA’s executive board last fall semester was that such a task could not realistically be delegated to a single person; a full-fledged committee is necessary in order to more effectively generate strong, consistent events. Thus, with an approved constitutional amendment creating a dedicated events committee, all that was missing was a chair to lead this committee. SGA Taking Efforts to Launch New Events Committee

11/04/2016  As was previously mentioned in the first official Illinois Tech Student Government Association (SGA) articles of this semester, one of the newest additions to the governing body is an Events Committee which hopes to establish regular events, both casual and professional and push SGA as a visible, available, and approachable organization. Events such as the President and Provost Forum or SGA’s regular Town Hall discussions with campus administrative bodies (such as the Office of Technology Support or Sodexo Dining Services) would fall under the jurisdiction and logistics of this Events Committee. This Committee is still looking for a Chair to lead it, but SGA President Hamze Leo Sukkar is confident that the establishment of this committee, alongside the ongoing projects of SGA’s other committees, will help to break the illusion of SGA as a secretive and inaccessible organization.
