Letter from Finance Board
Welcome to the Finance Board website. The site has been created to allow organizations to have easy access to information regarding Finance Board and obtaining money from the SAF.
As far as updates are concerned, I have a few for all student organizations to be made aware of.
- The first and most important is that the deadline for the upcoming hearings are fast approaching. Budget submissions are due by midnight on Sunday, November 15, 2009. Requests sent in for these hearings (which will be on Saturday, November 21, 2009) are for the Spring 2010 semester only. No late submissions will be accepted.
- We are currently looking to recruit new Finance Board members. If you know of anyone that will be a good match for the job, please do not hesitate to nominate them. There are currently 3 open slots for the next semester. Any IIT student that pays into the Student Activities Fund (SAF) is eligible to be on the board.
Those are the two most important updates.
None of the current procedures to obtain funds are going to be changed so as to maintain consistency. Follow Up Budgets (FUBs) are still being enforced with the details of the procedure for this on the Forms tab. Do not forget, the filled out forms are due in the FB mailbox not later than two weeks after completion of event (or receipt of purchase as the case may be).
Click on the Calendar tab for tentative dates of Finance Board meetings throughout the Fall Semester. If you have any comments or questions, please email us at

Important Information on Accessing allocated Funds
Dear Student Organizations,
I hope this release meets you well into your planning processes for our upcoming budget cycle. The purpose of this letter is to clarify details on how to go about using funds allocated by Finance Board within your organization.
As most of you should have received in the decision letters sent out at the end of last semester, lump sums of money were approved for your organization to use on the different categories of funding (Programming, Operation, Capital, Competition, and Conference) as opposed to the traditional line item micro-budgeting allocations that have been sent out in the past. Due to evidently inefficient communication between Finance Board and student organizations, questions regarding how the monies allocated should be distributed have been brought up and this should be clarified within the next paragraph. |
